Rev. Russell James Lovins, age 77, of Lenoir passed away Friday, June 28, 2024 at his residence. He was born November 25, 1946 in Caldwell County to the late Fritz Theodore Lovins and Margaret Aleene Smith Lovins. Russell's most rewarding job was bringing people to know and love Jesus. He served as a Pastor for over 45 years and spent his last 30 years as Pastor at Grandin Baptist Church until his retirement.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Janice Craig Lovins, of the home; one son, Richard Lovins (Sherry P.); two daughters, Crystal Walker (Todd), and Brandy Greene (Chris); one brother, Garry Lovins (Debbie); seven beloved grandchildren, Adam Lovins (Brooke), Jesse Gullett (Jacob), Logan Lovins, Jacob Walker, Allyson Walker, Natalie Greene, and Nolan Greene; and three great-grandchildren, Emery Walker, Maverick Walker, and Orbie Gullett.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 1, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Grandin Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Younce and Rev. Benny Hendrix officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the church.
