Sallie Ann
Cannon
May 20, 1936 — Oct 1, 2025
Ms. Sallie Ann "Browneyes" Cannon, age 89, of Hudson passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at College Pines Health and Rehabilitation.
Born May 20, 1936 in Caldwell County, Sallie was a daughter of the late Roby and China Roxie Walker Cannon. Sallie loved Jesus and loved like Jesus. She was giving and had a big heart. She was loved by many and enjoyed picking at others. She loved spending time with her daughter and grandkids and making unforgettable memories. She was witty, sharp as a tack, and undeniably selfless. She was the G.O.A.T. at Super Mario Brothers and passed that along to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She dedicated her life to family and making sure they were supported in whatever they did and that they never felt anything other than loved. She sacrificed more than we will ever know and even when she was putting everyone else before herself, she still made time to be there for her family. The warmth and happiness she brought to her family cannot be overstated. She was loved more than words can describe and she will live on in our hearts forever.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Opal "Babe" Ritch, Sara Jean "Curly Head" Curtis and Lynn "Baby" Greene; her brothers, Robert G. "Sug" Cannon, Kelly B. "Buster" Cannon, Bill James Cannon, William Hill "Fat" Cannon, Roby Lee "Sonny" Cannon, Jr. and Jack Cannon.
Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Simmons Wise (husband Tommy); a son, George Randall "Randy" Cannon; six grandchildren, Misty Smith, Danielle Bame (husband James), Whitney Hildebran (husband Ethan), Logan Crump (wife Kaley), Trevor Crump, and Megan Hamby; she is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A graveside celebration of Sallie's life will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Wildwood Cemetery in Lenoir with Rev. Jimmy Ritch officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Trevor Crump, Logan Crump, Tommy Wise, Ethan Hildebran, James Bame, and Brian Crump.
Greer-McElveen Funeral Home and Crematory of Lenoir are serving the Cannon family.
The family would like to extend gratitude to the nurse practitioners, CNAs, and aides at College Pines Health and Rehabilitation, and VIA hospice health partners for all their great care and love shown to their mother and grandmother.
