Sarah Irene Raby Duncan, 90, of Hudson fell asleep on Monday, April 22, 2024 and is awaiting the return of Jesus Christ.

Irene was born on March 13, 1934 in Caldwell County to the late Wardell Raby and Frona Mitchell Raby. She was a member of First Advent Christian Church Lenoir. Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who prayed for her loved ones daily.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, RV Duncan; sons, Steve Duncan and Ira Duncan; sister, Evelyn Raby; brother, Marshall Raby; granddaughter, Jessica Duncan and great-grandson, RB Byerly.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Gene Duncan (Sandy); daughter, Barbara Brakefield (David); daughters-in-law, Regina Duncan and Joan Duncan; brothers, Dewey Raby (Teny) and Charlie Raby (Stephanie); sister, Nellie Hodges (Bob); eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and others who considered her their mom or grandmother.

A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Wildwood Cemetery in Lenoir with Rev. Bob Hodges officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amorem at 902 Kirkwood Street, NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
