Shirley Ann Ownbey Reece, age 88, of Hudson passed away Friday, December 20, 2024 at Mission Hospital. She was born October 31, 1936 in Buncombe County to the late Jack Ownbey and Carra Penley Ownbey. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Bartley L. Reece; one son, Barry Daniel Reece; two brothers, Jack Ownbey and Mac Ownbey; and one sister, Barbara Barnett.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Mitchell Reece and wife Teresa of Valdese; four brothers, Ronnie Ownbey, Bill Ownbey, Ray Ownbey, and Sonny Ownbey; three sisters, Wanda Moore, Faye Smith, and Velda Brooks; four grandchildren, Patrick Cobb, Jay Cobb, Lacey Cobb, and Whitney Ferguson; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 26, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Derek Jones officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Cemetery of Blowing Rock.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 to 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
