Shirley Viola Woodring Hayes, age 85, of Taylorsville, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025.

Shirley was born on December 23, 1939 to the late Ranzy Woodring and Vesta Phillips Woodring in Watauga County, North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Hayes; step-son, Charles Hayes; sisters, Edith Tester, Jewel Woodring, and Geneva Woodring; and brother, Howard Woodring.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Tim Hayes; daughters, Brenda Davis (Randy) and Stephanie Adams (Michael); step-sons, Johnny Hayes (Brenda) and Donnie Hayes (Betty Sue);  brother, Clay Woodring (Betty); sister, Paris Jenkins; grandchildren, Trevor Hayes, Christy Myers, Melissa Davis, and Mathew Kirby; 5 step-grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 11 step great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service to honor the life of Shirley Hayes will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Adams Cemetery (332 Adams Cemetery Rd. Vilas, NC 28692) at 12:00PM with the Reverend Burl Greer officiating.
