Stella Mae Harkins Hayes, age 88, previously of Lenoir passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Spring Arbor of Albemarle. She was born August 24, 1936 in Union County, Georgia to the late James Henry Harkins and Lola Mae Abercrombie Harkins. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Rector Hayes; and five brothers, Eldo Harkins, Ralph Harkins, Harley Harkins, I.T. Harkins, and Clyde Harkins.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Deborah Glovacki (Tom) of Idaho, and Denise Smith (Art) of Norwood, NC; one estranged son, Douglas Hayes (Renae) of Wilkesboro; six grandchildren, Brittany McRary, Zach Smith, Kevin Glovacki, Dalton Hayes, Carly Smith, and Keith Glovacki; and a host of extended family.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Mountlawn Memorial Park with services conducted by Rev. Allen Norrod. Military honors were provided by the U.S. Air Force.
