Steven Duncan, age 71, of Granite Falls, North Carolina entered his Heavenly home on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
Steven was born on January 23, 1953 to Virginia Dare Duncan and the late John H. Duncan in Catawba County, North Carolina.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandchild, Gavin Fritts.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Virginia Dare Duncan; wife of 51 years, Pamela Duncan; son, Chad Steven Duncan and wife Kendall; daughters, Stephanie Duncan Fritts and husband Harvey and Kelly Duncan Dellinger and husband Todd; brother, Chip Duncan and wife Becky; and grandchildren, Kaylee Addison and husband Levi, Dylan Fritts, Addison Duncan, Kinsley Duncan, and Molly Duncan.
Steven was a volunteer firefighter at Sawmills Volunteer Fire and Rescue for 51 years, where he was a former fire chief and the longest living member. He also served on the board of directors and was an officer of the Caldwell County Fireman's Association. Steven served on the Sawmills planning board as well as the American Red Cross Board. He truly loved his community and was willing to serve in any way he could. Steven was a graduate of Haywood Community College and also played football at Hudson High in his youth. He loved his family with all of his heart. Most importantly, he was a member of Dry Ponds Baptist Church, where he demonstrated his love for his Lord and Savior.
A funeral service to honor the life of Steven Duncan will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 3:00pm at Dry Ponds Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Crouse and Reverend Rob Evans officiating.
The family will receive visitors at Dry Ponds Baptist Church the night before the service on Friday, October 18, 2024 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm.
Burial will follow the service at Dry Ponds Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Dry Ponds Baptist Church- Challenge to Pave.
