In Loving Memory

Susan Weisenbacher Phillips, 76, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on October 31, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, beautiful memories, and a family who will forever cherish the warmth and kindness she brought into their lives.

Susan was, quite simply, one of the kindest souls you could ever hope to know. Her gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for others touched everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Whether you knew her as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, coworker, or friend, you knew someone who genuinely cared. She had a remarkable way of making people feel special, valued, and loved.

For 58 wonderful years, Susan shared her life with her devoted husband, John Robert Phillips. Together, they built a life centered around love, family, and the countless little moments that become a lifetime of treasured memories.

Family was the heart of Susan's world. She was the glue that held everyone together, the person who made every gathering feel like home, and the one who could always be counted on to take care of everyone else. Her love was constant, her generosity came naturally, and her family never had to wonder how much they meant to her.

One of Susan's most treasured relationships was the extraordinary bond she shared with her daughter, Margot. More than mother and daughter, they were truly best friends. They spent countless hours together, sharing conversations, laughter, everyday moments, and a closeness that only grew stronger with time. Whether they were doing something special or simply enjoying each other's company, being together was what mattered most. Susan was not only Margot's mother but also her confidante, her constant source of love and support, and her dearest friend. Their bond was one of life's greatest blessings, and the love they shared will forever remain a part of Margot's heart.

Susan found joy in life's simple pleasures — cooking for those she loved, tending to her flower garden, bringing family together, and spending cherished time with her grandson, Mason. She loved music and never missed an opportunity to dance, especially with her son-in-law, David, who was always her favorite dance partner at family celebrations. Those joyful moments, filled with laughter and music, will forever remain among the family's most treasured memories.

Her kindness extended far beyond her family. Friends and coworkers alike would describe Susan as one of the most caring and generous people they had ever known. She gave freely of herself, never expecting anything in return. Taking care of others wasn't simply something Susan did it was who she was.

Susan was preceded in death by her loving parents, John and Susan Weisenbacher.

She leaves behind her devoted husband of 58 years, John Robert Phillips; her daughter, MargotPhillips Coffey and husband, David, of Lenoir, North Carolina; her beloved grandson, Mason Lane Coffey and his wife, Aimee, of Hickory, North Carolina; her precious great-grandchildren, Lane Thomas Coffey and Riley Claire Coffey; and her sister, Judy Carpenter and husband, Brian, of Green Lane, Pennsylvania; and her cherished niece, Casey Marinucci and husband Don of New Market, Virginia.

While her family will miss her beyond measure, they find comfort in the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. Her love will live on in the traditions she created, the meals shared around the family table, the music that brings back a memory, and the countless acts of kindness she inspired in others.

Susan's life was a beautiful reminder that the greatest legacy we leave behind is not measured by what we have, but by how deeply we love and care for others. And by that measure, hers was a life extraordinarily well lived.

To honor the wishes of Susan a private celebration of life will be held for the family.
