Teresa Gaye Curtis, born June 21, 1956, in Charlotte, North Carolina, and raised in

Hudson, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in Charlotte after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Charles A. Curtis and Bertie Olivia (Harvey) Curtis.

Teresa was known for her beautiful smile that could light up any room and for her warm, loving spirit that drew people to her effortlessly. She formed friendships easily, and her kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on colleagues throughout her successful career in the legal field and in banking. She was widely respected for her outstanding dedication and exemplary performance. A devoted family member and faithful servant of her church, Teresa stood firmly for the well-being of those she loved and lived her life guided by her strong religious beliefs. She was also a talented seamstress, gifted decorator, and creative crafter, finding joy in using her skills to bless others.

Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Michael Curtis and his daughter, Olivia Curtis Story married to Nick Story, and their children Abbie, Grant, and Kyleigh, all of Lenoir; and her faithful companion, Tony Brakefield, also of Lenoir.

A Memorial Service to honor Teresa's life will be held on Tuesday, February 10, at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5815 Carmel Road in Charlotte, with Brian Cope officiating.

Greer-McElveen Funeral Home and Crematory of Lenoir are serving the Curtis family.
