Teresa De De La Riva Urrutia, age 85, of Lenoir passed away Monday, October 7, 2024 at her residence. She was born August 9, 1939 in Mexico City, Mexico to the late Juan Urrutia and Ana Maria Rodriguez Urrutia. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by an infant son; and two brothers, Juan Urrutia Rodriguez and Fidencio Urrutia Rodriguez.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Daniel De La Riva Alvarez, of the home; five sons, Daniel De La Riva (Silvia), Fermin De La Riva (Amalia), Javier De La Riva, Jose Luis De La Riva, and Alberto De La Riva (Teresa); three daughters, Ana Maria De La Riva (Juan), Maricruz De La Riva (Martin), and Edith De La Riva (Gilberto); one sister, Guadalupe Urrutia; twenty-four grandchildren, Fabiola (Roberto), Fransisco, Fernanda, James (Hannah), Joseph, Ana, Teresa, Orlando, Jonathan, Alejandra (Chase), Tamara (Enrique), Anabel, Juan, Sarahi (Eric), Javier, Adrianna, Kathy (Jose), Aldo, Kaitlyn (Victor), Alan, Abby, Alaya, Austin, and Kensy; and nine great-grandchildren, Maylyn, Stella, Myla, Milan, Lucas, Marcelo, Ezequiel, Aleah, and Roberto.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Alfonso Gamez officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be members of the family.
