Theresa Ann Burkhimer, age 72, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

Theresa was born on December 13, 1952, in New Hanover County, NC to Walton Peter Burkhimer, Sr and Annie Davis Burkhimer.

In addition to her parents Theresa is preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jeff Ford; uncles, Al Davis (Hazel), Tom Davis (Opal), Jeff Davis (Jean), and Sam Davis (Mary); aunt, Ruth Greene (Mack); cousins, Mary Anne Patterson, Harold and Ginny Greene, Curtis Pritchard, David Greene, and Michael Greene.

Living on to cherish her memory are brothers, Pete Burkhimer, Jr. and wife Sharon, and Ed Burkhimer; sisters, Amy Kiser and Emily Ford; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, Jeff and Tammy Burkhimer (Noah, Ian, and Ramona), Angie and Chad Swygert (Avery and Everson), Jason Burkhimer, Adam and Sara Burkhimer (Simon), Rob and Heather Cline (Cheyenne and Garrison Burress, Anna, and Adalynn), Laura and Mike (Haleigh, Ashton, Sydni, and Lincoln), Michael and Melissa Craig (Aamori, Bryson, Kynli, and Easton), Jesse Ford, Kyrie and Matt Chaney (Mason, Aubrie, and Jack); and one great-great-nephew, Kasyn; along with innumerable cousins.

Theresa was a gentle, loving and kind member of our family who could and would always warm our hearts.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  Theresa loved to work crossword puzzles, draw, paint, and watch her favorite TV shows.  She also loved to fish and walk on the beach.  Theresa's light and energy will continue to inspire and live on through her family and everyone who ever met her.  May Theresa's memory be a blessing to all who knew her.

We want to take this time to thank the care team members who provided such wonderful care to Theresa and her family. To the magnificent team of doctors and nurses at Duke University Hospital whose gallant efforts gave Theresa back to us, even though it was for a little while. Words cannot express our gratitude to her other care members Erin, Lisa, Ann, Martha, Lauren S., Lauren M., Rob, Gail, LeeAnne, Heather, Michael, Teresa, and Susan M.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Blue Ridge Memorial Park, Lenoir NC.
