In Loving Memory of Thomas W. Austin

Thomas Austin, age 62, passed away March 29th, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 6th, 1961, in Ausburg, Germany to Earl T. Austin and Rosemarie Mayer Austin.

He brought immense joy to all those around him with his boisterous laugh and wide smile.

He is preceded in death by his beautiful daughter, Brittany N. Austin and his loving father Earl Austin.

Thomas's journey touched the lives of many, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of strength and resilience. His unwavering spirit in the face of adversity was an inspiration to all who knew him. His winning personality and quick wit, with a bit of mischief thrown in, made him the life of the party. Many memories were made on the beach over a hardy game of horseshoes. He was the official family paparazzi, never in the pictures always taking the pictures. He will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, and the positive impact he had on everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

Thomas was a long time employee of Harper furniture and presently employed by Bernhardt Furniture. Thomas loved the outdoors, fishing, the beach, and traveling in the RV. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He will be missed desperately.

Thomas is survived by his devoted wife, Kim Austin of the home. His loving mother, Rose Austin of Lenoir, and his loving brother Steve Austin and wife Teri Austin of Granite Falls. His children, grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, family, friends (both in the United States and Germany) will forever hold dear his memory.

The funeral service to honor Thomas's life will be held at 2pm on April 2nd, 2024 at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Paul Duncan officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1pm-2pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Chris Corpening, Shannon Foster, Dustin Bowers, Wesley Bumgarner, Michael Watson, and Sonny Bowles.

May Thomas rest in peace, free from pain and may his memory continue to bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.
