Thomas Eugene Craig “Thumb”, 76, of Lenoir passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 5, 2026.

Tom was born on March 11, 1950 to the late Alec and Lucy Craig.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Janice Craig Lovins and brother in law, Rev. R.J. Lovins.

Those left to cherish his memory include his nephew, Richard Lovins and wife Sherry; nieces, Crystal Walker and husband Todd, and Brandy Greene and husband Chris; many great nephews and nieces and great-great nephews and nieces; as well as other family and friends.

Tom was a character and to know him was to know his green thumb and his ability to grow most anything. Tom was a fount of knowledge and knew a little something about everything and he freely shared his knowledge and opinion, wanted or not. He could fix most anything and loved tinkering with junk. He had a love of flowers, animals, fishing, flea markets and lottery tickets but unfortunately not the luck of ever winning big,

However, yesterday right before Tom’s passing there was a huge beautiful rainbow outside his window that told him he had won the only lottery that truly mattered- his ticket to Heaven.

We would like to thank the North Catawba Fire Department for all their caring assistance every time we called.

Tom asked that no services be held, so we will honor his request and we will honor him as his family privately.
