Thomas Edward Woods (Tommy), age 90, of Lenoir, passed away April 14, 2026, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson, NC. He was born on October 26, 1935, to the late Joe William Woods and Virginia Anderson Woods from Happy Valley. Tommy attended Happy Valley Elementary School and was a 1955 graduate of Bandy's High School.

Tommy was preceded in death by his late wife, Marie Townsel Woods, and by his brothers, Joe Woods, William "Fred" Woods, Richard Woods, and Ray Woods. Sisters Shirley Brittan, Lib Bryant, and Helen Hartley.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include one son, Eddie Woods, and his wife, Diane; one grandson, Scott Woods, and his wife, Heather; one granddaughter, Amanda Woods Jenkins and Salina Vangassbeck; two great-grandsons, John Ryan Woods and Mikeal Scott Woods. One brother, Kelly (Buddy) Woods, wife, Elizabeth, and one sister, Dare Woods. The family would also like to thank Lynn Vanderford for everything and for her caregiving.

My grandpaw was a carpenter by trade. He built many homes, along with being a skilled upholsterer. He enjoyed watching westerns, his favorite being Lonesome Dove. He loved gardening and being outside with his dogs, his buddies Pixie, Lucky, and Harley. In the spring, when the grapes were ripe on his vines, he was making wine with his brother Ray, a sight to see!

Your grandson is going to miss you, buddy! All the stories and all the days that we spent in that old swing overlooking the garden….
