Trilla Stallings Annas went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

She was born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. (Fannie Prestwood) Stallings of Lenoir on February 26, 1933.

She graduated from Hudson High School in 1951. Two weeks after graduation, she accepted a temporary position with the Welfare Department. That assignment led to a full-time career and she advanced to the position of Administrative Officer in the Caldwell County Department of Social Services, The Caldwell County Board of Commissioners designated her 30th anniversary as "Trilla Annas Day". Upon her retirement in 1996, fellow employees named a board room in her honor. Along the way, she took courses at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, served on the Caldwell County Heritage Committee and represented DSS on the Employee Security Commission's Job Service Employee Committee. In 1987, she was named the Most Valuable Employee in the Northwestern District of the North Carolina Department of Social Services Association.

She married Charles Edwin Annas on October 18, 1953 and the two worked together to serve their community. While he collaborated with other volunteers to establish Sawmills Fire and Rescue, Mrs. Annas worked with their wives to raise funds, dispatch calls, and provide support services. Mrs. Annas has also been active in civic, church, and community service. She was a charter member and president of the Granite Falls Business and Professional Women's Club where she arranged leadership training programs and mentored young women beginning their careers. She also served her church, Whitnel United Methodist Church, as a Sunday School teacher and member of various committees/councils. After the closing of Whitnel United Methodist, Trilla moved her membership to Grace Chapel Global Methodist Church where she was welcomed by the congregation with love and care.

For service to her community through her employment and volunteer work, Mrs. Annas received the following awards: Granite Falls Woman of the Year (1992), Orin Whitener Award (2010), L.A. Dysart Award (2014), Order of the Long Leaf Pine (2016), and Caldwell County Schools Hall of Honor (2022). She has also been recognized with numerous awards by the American Heart Association and the Granite Falls BPW Club.

Mrs. Annas was predeceased by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Margaret Harris (Max), and Christine Eller (J.C.) and her brother, James Stallings. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret Stallings; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Joe Icard; nephews, Rob Eller (Debbie), Scott Eller (Tamara); nieces, Carmen Teague (Joe), Brandi Rabon (Jay) and Teresa Teague; great nieces, Trilla Belle Teague, Tattie Ann Teague, Avery Rabon, Addison Rabon, Alana Rabon, and Abby Burch (Alex); great nephews, Drew Eller, Titus Teague, Tyre Teague, and great-great nephew, Anderson Burch. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

A celebration of Trilla's Life will be held Friday, July 19, 2024 at 2:30pm at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with pastors Jim Evans and Phillip Hefner officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00pm to 2:30pm.

Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rob Eller, Scott Eller, Drew Eller, Joe Teague, Jay Rabon, and Joe Icard.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Caldwell County Social Services Foster Program, the J. C. Harper School of Performing Arts, and Amorem (Hudson).
