Velma Bertha Phillips, 84, of Lenoir, NC, went home to be with her  Lord and Saviour  on August 31,2023. She was born on April 12, 1939, in Boone, NC, to the late Mr. Frank Phillips and Lillie Eldreth Phillips.

Velma was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished her family dearly. She had a passion for crocheting, gardening and solving puzzles, which brought her joy and relaxation throughout her life.

Velma is survived by her sons, Stephen Lynn Adams and wife Kim, Ricky Glenn Matney and wife Loretta, Daughter in law Emma Adams her grandsons Stephen and Preston Adams and Eric Greene, her granddaughters Brandi Eller and Victoria Brackbill, 8 Great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husbands James Matney and Keith Phillips, her son Douglas Brackbill, her grandson Samuel Brackbill, and her granddaughter Amy Brackbill.

Velma's life will be celebrated at a ceremony held at Crossroads Community Church on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Pastors Rick Bowman and Ronnie Turner officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Velma's name.
