Verlean Story Greene, age 89, of Lenoir passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at her residence. She was born January 29, 1935 in Caldwell County to the late Odell Story and Ona Greene Story. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husbands, Max Ford, Edward Tolbert, and Frank Edward Greene; four brothers, Wade Story, Lester Story, Wayne Story, and Larry Story; and one sister, Lafern Story Cook.

Mrs. Greene was a faithful member of Whitnel First Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include four sons, Lewis Ford of Lenoir, Donald Ford (Sandra) of Lenoir, Sam Ford (Diana) of Valdese, and Terry Ford (Lecia) of Lenoir; two daughters, Virginia Bryant and Wanda Ellis (Bryan), all of Lenoir; one brother, Harvey Story (Dora Lee) of Lenoir; two sisters, Cathy Hollars (Henry) of Granite Falls, and Edith Arnette (O.J.) of Lenoir; seventeen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her husband, Walter "Worth" Younce.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Hedgecock officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Bailey's Camp Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
