Virginia "Darlene" Pope Phillips, age 79, of Hudson passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Amorem Hospice. She was born February 19, 1945 in Caldwell County to the late Ben Braxton Pope and Mildred Swan Pope. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Monroe Phillips; one son, Terry Phillips; three brothers, Benny Pope, Burl Pope, and Buddy Pope; and one sister, Linda Watts.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Tina Phillips Cannon and husband Tim of Lenoir, and Kimberly Dawn Phillips and husband Mark S. Eller of Hudson; two grandchildren, Cameron Jane Nelson and Amanda Cannon Crump; and one great-grandson, Evan Daniel Crump.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 21, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brent Dula officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be members of the family and friends.

The family will have a gathering of friends at the home of Darlene Phillips on Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Amorem Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Street NW, Lenoir NC 28645.
