Walter Alexander Corpening, age 81, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

Walter was born on April 14, 1944 in Caldwell County, NC to the late Walter and Margaret Corpening.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Rudell June Corpening, William Justice Corpening, and Paul Allen Corpening, and sister, Margaret Faye Corpening.

Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Gerald Vance Corpening; sisters, Shirley Corpening Kincaid, Jessie Mae Parker, and Catherine Corpening Rankin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Walter was humorous, kind, and happy. He had excellent caregivers, who thought very highly of him. They spoiled him and said he was very special. He loved James Brown, it was even his nickname.

A memorial service to honor the life of Walter Corpening will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 2:00pm at Lippard Chapel at Broughton Hospital with Reverend Ernie Bartley, Chaplain of Broughton Hospital, officiating.

The family will receive visitors at the chapel one hour prior to the service from 1:00pm until 2:00pm.
