Mr. Wayne Mittchel Nelson, age 76, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away in his home on January 8th, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.

Wayne was born to the late Earl Robert Nelson and Doris Turnmire Nelson in Caldwell County, North Carolina on September 15, 1948.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Nelson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, Linda Nelson; son, Kenneth Nelson and wife Lisa; daughter, Sherry Nelson; grandchild, Braxton Nelson; nephews, Chad Nelson and Steven Nelson; as well as numerous loved ones.

Wayne was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing music. He also loved to pull pranks and tell jokes. Most importantly, Wayne loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a good and faithful servant who loved to read his Bible and to discuss it with anyone who would listen. He will be deeply missed.

A memorial service to honor the life of Wayne Nelson will be held at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025 at 1:30pm.

The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 1:00pm until 1:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Shriner's Children's Hospital.
