Obituary

Wayne Terry Weeks, age 81, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, July 21, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Wayne was born October 29, 1943 in Maryville, Tennessee to the late Clyde Weeks, Jr. and Dorothy Clabough Weeks. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his step-mom, Mable Weeks; brothers, Ronnie Weeks, Mickey Weeks; half-brother, Ricky Weeks; sisters, Debbie Montgomery, Sandy Cline; and sisters-in-law, Brenda Weeks and Jean Weeks.

After graduating from Warren Wilson College in 1963 Wayne joined the Marines serving his country from 1964-1968 including a tour in Vietnam, 1967-1968 during the Tet offensive.  Leaving the Marines, he worked at Y 12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee as a. Electronic Technician for 11 years, later joining ALCOA, Aluminum Company of America, as an Electronic Technician retiring with 25 years in 2004.

Wayne was a loving husband for 28 years to the love of his life, Barbara Johnson Weeks.  Others left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Christa Weeks, of Maryville, Tennessee; son, Jeffrey Weeks (Miranda) of Centerton, Arkansas; step-son, Eddie Braswell (Tina) of Zebulon, NC; two grandchildren, Zachary Braswell (Kaylyn) of Hildebran, NC, and Brodie Weeks, of Centerton, Arkansas; step-grandchild, Emerson Braswell of Zebulon, NC; brothers, Randall Weeks, (Nita) and Steve Weeks all of Maryville, Tennessee; half-brother, Clyde Weeks (Lisa) of Maryville, Tennessee; half-sister, Connie Grindstaff  of Maryville, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved.

Wayne and Barbara loved to travel. Driving our beautiful country on three different trips West and a trip North hitting all 48 states. Cruising to Alaska and both had layovers in Hawaii before they met.  Hitting all 50 states.  They also loved cruising, visiting numerous Caribbean Islands and Bermuda.  Wayne did several trips abroad for his job with ALCOA.

Wayne always had a giving spirit and willing to help. Some of his most memorable times were working with the men in the Day3 Men's Ministry.  Serving those that needed help, no matter what they needed. He loved the camaraderie with his brothers in Christ. The work was hard but the joy of helping others outweigh the sore body.

Memorial services will be held Friday, July 25, 2025 at 6:30 P.M. at Day3 Church with Rev. Lynn Parsons, Rev. John Lewis, and Rev. Daryl Triplett officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Marines.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:30 to 6:30 P.M. at the church.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the men of Day3 Men's Ministry.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Day 3 Church Attn: Men's Ministry, 4365 Hickory Blvd, Granite Falls, NC 28630.
