Wilborn "Jack" Pinkney Chandler, age 97, of Lenoir passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023 at the Shaire Center.

Born March 1, 1926 in Caldwell County, Jack was a son of the late Tom and Mary Holden Chandler.  Jack was a member of Mulberry Baptist Church.  He was a wonderful Christian man and active in his church.  He was a deacon and Sunday School Superintendent.  Jack was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Greene Chandler; four brothers, Tommy Chandler, Jones Chandler, Wesley Chandler and John Chandler; and two sisters, Lily White and Emma Bumgarner.

Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Scruggs (husband Steve) and Cora "Corki" Jones (husband Gary); two grandchildren, Dawn Wright (husband Tommy) and Matthew Miller; two great grandchildren, Daniel Wright and Lincoln Wright; a sister, Josie Duncan; he is also survived by numerous other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Mulberry Baptist Church, 4024 Kirby Mountain Road with Rev. James Todd officiating.  Interment will immediately follow at Mulberry Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Melvin Chandler, Reuben Chandler, Roger Edmisten, Steve Sweeney, Ted Vines and Chris Hollars.  Honorary pallbearers will be John Starnes, Jerry Edmisten, Brent Martin, Roy Greene, Bernie Garland and Jerry Melton.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
