Obituary

William “Wild Bill” Houck, age 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2026, in Atlantic Beach, Florida. He was born October 26, 1940 in Todd, North Carolina to the late Stacy and Nellie Houck. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Charles Nathan Houck; and four siblings, Wanda Blackwell, Mamie Huizenga, Tony Houck, and Johnny Houck.

Bill grew up surrounded by mountain roots, family, and the laughter he later became known for. Wild Bill will be remembered for his unmistakable laugh, his sharp humor, and the joy he spread to everyone he met. He had a gift for making people feel lighter, welcomed, and loved. His legacy lives on in the family who adored him and in the countless moments of laughter he leaves behind.

Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Jean Houck; three children, Wesley Houck, Jason Houck, and Jennifer Spink and husband Scott Spink.

He also leaves behind to carry on his wonderful legacy his three siblings, Rev. Sonny Younce, Rev. Allen Younce, and Janet Barnett, along with many beloved nieces and nephews who cherished him deeply.

His legacy continues through his four grandchildren, Noah Houck and fiancé Sierra Harrison, Madisyn Oury and husband Brendan Oury, Lyndsee Spink, and Christiannah Spink; and his four great‑grandchildren, Brayden Houck, Gracie Houck, Jackson Penny, and Grayson Penny, who will grow up hearing stories of the joy he brought into every room.
