William "Ray" Jones, age 94, of Lenoir passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Hickory Falls Health and Rehabilitation. He was born December 14, 1928 in Caldwell County to the late Hugh T. Jones and Wilda Pennell Jones. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Robinson Younce Jones.

Mr. Jones was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 34 years of dedicated work and enjoyed a long and healthy retirement for 39 years. Over the last 5 years Ray has enjoyed reading his Bible and has professed his faith in Jesus Christ.

Those left to cherish his memory include two step-children, Jon Younce and wife Kathy of Granite Falls and Mark Younce and wife Cindy of Lenoir; one sister, Doris Meeks and family; five step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with Rev. Robert Hodges officiating.
