Winnefred (Wini) Harding, 99 of Lenoir, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Amorem of Hudson, NC.
She was born on June 3, 1924 in Mount Dora, Florida to the late E. F. (Frank) Harding and Mary Bean Harding. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three infant siblings, two brothers, Edward (Ed) Harding and William (Bill) Harding, three sisters, Mary Agnes Galbreath, Lena Holloway, and Lucille (Lucy) Derkman.
Wini was a graduate of Florida State University and a Registered Medical Technologist. She had worked in laboratories in Cleveland, Ohio, and Los Angeles, California. She held a supervisor position at The Moses Cone Medical Hospital in Greensboro, NC and was retired from Caldwell Memorial Hospital after 31 years as Laboratory Supervisor and manager. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lenoir, where she was an elder and had taught Sunday School.
Ms. Harding was a charter member of the Altrusa Club of Caldwell County and a past member of the Lenoir BPW Club. She also served on several volunteer boards and was active as a volunteer in many organizations of the county.
Survivors include one sister, Doris Crossland of Baltimore, MD. She also had many beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews. She also considered Michael and Linda Lowe of Lenoir, their children, grand-children, and great grand-children as extended family.
A Memorial Service will be held January 9, 2024 at 2pm at First Presbyterian Church of Lenoir located in the northwest wing of Zion United Church of Christ,1019 College Ave SW, Lenoir, NC with Rev. Beth Ann Miller officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
Private interment will follow at Lenoir Presbyterian Church Columbarium for family .
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amorem (Hospice), 902 Kirkwood St. NW, Lenoir, NC 28645 or Lenoir Soup Kitchen, 1113 College Ave SW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
