Wren "Renn" Edward Smith passed away on December 9, 2023. He was born on December 31, 1948 to the late Cloyde and Virgie Smith.

He was in the United States Army stationed in Fort Benning Georgia. Renn retired from the State Department after 38 years.

He was married to Sandra Kay Smith for 53 years. Together, they had 3 children; oldest and only daughter, Tammy Smith Jackson and husband Keith Jackson, middle son Marc Lucus Smith and wife Olivia Smith, and youngest son, the late Nathan Daniel Smith.

Renn had many sisters and brothers including Judy Buchanan and husband David, Ruby Barlow, Gail Patterson and husband Rick, Vicki Sanders, Jennie Kreigh and husband Glenn. His sister Ruth McKinney also preceded him in death. His brothers Rex Smith, Tommy Smith, and Buddy Smith preceded him in death. He also had many surviving sisters in law and brothers in law including Linda Wilkins and Bobby Wilkins, Randall Bodford, Teresa Bodford, Ricky and Mary Bodford. He also had one deceased brother in law, Norman Jay Bodford.

He had nine surviving grandchildren, Cody Allen Jackson, Tara Jackson, Sierra Jackson, Tyler Keith Jackson, Kayla Smith Gentry and husband Tyler Gentry, Alyssa Nicole Smith, Chase Evan Smith, Reneelea Kay Smith, and Emma Smith.

He also had many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, great nephews, great nieces, and many cousins.

A service to honor Renn's life will be held at Faith Tabernacle in Whitnel, NC on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 2pm with Reverend Rocky Dula and Reverend Brandon Thomas officiating.

The family will receive visitors at the church one hour prior to the service from 1pm-2pm.
