Obituary

Bobby William Chester, age 71, of Green Acres Street, Lenoir died Monday, December 16, 2013 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. He was born November 10, 1942 in Caldwell County to the late Argie and Maude Gragg Chester. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Allen Chester; and grandson, Jordan Watson. Mr. Chester was a truck driver for Cargo Transportation in Claremont and was a member of Cedar Rock Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Louise Miller Chester of the home; three sons, Stewart Chester and wife Robin of Hudson, Kenneth Chester and wife Janice and Bill Miller and wife Laura, both of Lenoir; three daughters, Karen C. Soots and husband Tam of Tampa, Florida, Amy Melton and husband Lee and Karen M. Watson and husband Chuck, both of Hudson; nine grandchildren, William Miller Jr., Jonathan Soots, Megan Flowers, Brittany Trevino, Holly Moss, Amber Chester, Heather Watson, Brittany Watson and Scarlett Melton; great-grandchildren, Gracie Chester, William Miller III, Malachi Moss and Jake Flowers. one brother, Harvey Chester and wife Libby of Elk Creek; five sisters, Leona Hicks and husband Boyce and Margie Taylor and husband Dewey, both of Hudson, Lucille Church and husband Claude of Rowlett, Texas, Ruby Ervin and husband Bill of Lenoir, Reba Greene and husband Jim of Pfafftown, N.C. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Rock Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jim Robbins and Rev. Benny Hendrix. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir. The family will receive Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
